About Institute of Technical Education (ITE)
The Institute of Technical Education, Singapore (ITE) was established on 1 April 1992. It is a statutory board under the Ministry of Education, Singapore. ITE is tasked to help build a world-class quality workforce to support the development of Singapore. ITE offers a wide range of full-time engineering, business studies and service courses, from which students can acquire high-level skills. These course are carefully designed and developed to meet the needs of industry. ITE courses are therefore industry-driven. They are also career-oriented, preparing ITE graduates to work in challenging and well-paid jobs with bright career and advancement prospects.

About Singapore Institute of Materials Management (SIMM)
SIMM was incorporated in 1980 as a not-for-profit and self-supporting independent educational institution, with quality as its corporate emphasis. SIMM has since grown to be a premier institution offering Logistics, Supply Chain Management and E-commerce education for aspiring professionals in the Asia-Pacific region. SIMM is a member of the International Federation of Purchasing and Materials Management (IFPMM), Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and The Association for Operations Management (APICS). The Institute is the authorised regional testing centre for the internationally recognised CPIM/CSCP and C.P.M. professional certifications. At SIMM, students can further their higher education in the Supply Chain through distance learning, or on-campus studies in Singapore, to levels accredited by the reputable and award-winning Curtin University of Technology in Australia.

Need for Training
To meet the rapid technological changes in industry, there is a need for employers to support workers to participate in a continuos life-long system of skills training and upgrading. Skills training is an investment in productivity. With better skills, a worker will become more flexible , efficiently and adaptable at work. This in turn enable the employer to achieve higher productivity. With a well-trained workforce, the organisation can improve its competitive edge.

ITE SKILLS Certificate in Logistics Operations (CLO)
The ITE Skills Certificate in Logistics Operation is a part-time programme for workers to upgrade their skills in the Logistics and Warehousing industries. It is of six-month duration. Classes will be conducted two evenings per week from 7pm to 10pm at the Singapore Institute of Materials Management (SIMM). Lessons are conducted in English.

The structure for the course comprises of 3 modules:

1. Inventory Control (30 hours)
This subject covers an overview of the importance of inventory control in warehousing and logistics management.

3. Warehouse Operations (50 hours)
This subject covers the role and functions of a warehouse, stock taking methods of handling materials and the types of materials handling equipment.

Award of Certificate
The ITE Skills Certificate in Logistics Operations (CLO) will be awarded by ITE to those who meet the following requirements:

a) posses a pass mark of 50% based on aggregate score obtained from practical and written assessments with weighting of 70% and 30% respectively.

b) attend at least 75% of the course sessions

Entry Requirements
Participants should be at least 18 years old, possess at least Secondary Two qualifications and preferably have one year of relevant working experience.

Registration Procedures
It is compulsory for all participants to enroll as members of SIMM throughout the period of the course duration. Application form must be accompanied by: a. An application-processing fee of $50/- subject to prevailing GST charge. b. Education qualifications, including transcripts of results, certificates and other supporting documents. c. One passport size photograph.

Skills Development Fund (SDF)
The CLO course is pre-approved for funding under the SDF. Applicant companies are required to enroll the trainees and pay the net fees to SIMM. Applicant companies should apply for course fee and absentee payroll funding in the SkillsConnect system (www.skillsconnect.gov.sg) at least one working day before the course commencement date.

Course Days: Tues & Thurs
Time: 7 pm to 10 pm
Course Duration: 110 hours (6 months)
Course Fee: S$2,000/- before GST (SIMM member only)
Exam Fee: S$ 360/- before GST (practical exam fees for 3 modules)
